2020 Senior Sports Days For May is Cancelled

Senior Sports Days has been a part of the Portsmouth community for 30 years!  To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the events were supposed to kick off on Monday May 4th and conclude with an Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 7th.  We hope to be able to reschedule the games for later in the year, once the COVID-19 pandemic is under control.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Name of Program     Senior Services’ VICAP Certified Medicare Benefits Counselors

Description                  This program is for adults aged 55 and older. The programs will assist you with the following Medicare benefits;File Medicare claims and resolve billing issues, Enroll in a Medicare Prescription Drug Program (Part D), Choose a Medicare Advantage Plan, Choose Medigap (Supplemental) Plan, Explain the differences between Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans and Medigap Plans, Understand your Medicare premiums, Check Eligibility for assistance with Medicare Cost and assist with applications;  Apply for Medicaid , Direct to other Service that might be available through Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia. Senior Services offers one-on-one unbiased counseling sessions as well as informational seminars. There is no charge for these services.

Description                  If you are overweight, or have a family history of diabetes or high blood pressure, come get a free eye screening from Wagner Macula & Retina Center. It could save your sight!

Description                  Senior Sports Days is Celebrating 30 years. This event helps to provide health, wellness and fun! Some of the events included are track & field, frisbee throw, softball hit & throw, beanbag throw, basketball throw, golf spades, and so much more. Bring your senior community and join Parade of Athletes, Senior Information Day with a variety of exhibitors and health partners.  The opening ceremony will feature a special guest speaker. This year we will host a “Gold & White Athletes Ball” in to celebrate our 30 Years of events. Registration will begin Feb 17 and ends April 1, 2020  Registration Application are available at the      Senior Station, city of Portsmouth  Recreation facilities, 3rd floor Portsmouth City Hall, Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing and our libraries.

TRIPS

Description                 There is always something to see and do in our National Capital. This trip will feature a step on guide to show us and give us historical information about this busy city along with a stop to Madame Tussauds where we will visit Hollywood’s A-Listers, Athletes, Musicians, Political elite and all 45 Presidents. Be prepared to walk and enjoy a fun packed day.  Trip price includes motocoach transportation, museum fees and snacks. Breakfast and dinner stops will be made, please fill free to pack a lunch.  Fee: $75.00 per person. Deposit of $25 is due at sign up with the balance due Friday April; 10th.
